THE LEGEND OF THE PHANTOM RIDER
From © b-independendent.com
Part of the review of Legend of the Phantom Rider;
Even if the thought of a Fantasy/ Western doesn't hold much appeal to you, you
might just want to check out LEGEND OF THE PHANTOM RIDER's gorgeous Cinema Photography by John Roy Morgan. His gorgeous wide open shots of the vast desert and blue sky are a perfect cure for the winter time blues. Take a scenic trip to some place warm and sunny without ever leaving your easy chair. I think that alone is quite a bargain for the price of a video rental.

"Cinematography by John Roy Morgan is oftentimes inspired, and the Western landscape has never looked more desolate and lonely."
Legend of the Phantom Rider
Movie Review by Axel H - Senior News & DVD Review Editor
The cinematography by John Roy Morgan, who was the lenser on VICTIM, Erkiletian’s short film, is unbelievable. Between his camera work, and the well planned and perfectly composed arrangements and editing, this looks like an A budget film. Some of the work is breathtaking. The opening sequence, of two native warriors battling in the desert is one of the best composed shots I have seen for ages. They’ve obviously done their homework, and have done something special with a low-expectation project.

Best Cinematography:
AN I WITHIN
"Cinematographer John Roy Morgan seamlessly fuses live action with director Hamid
Rahmanian's animation into a vivid kaleidoscope of images. Lush colors saturate the screen
with allusions ranging from Fellini to the Arabian nights. This imaginative and
experimental film dissolves all the boundaries of traditional filmmaking, inviting the
viewer into a strange and beautiful world."
1995 Telluride:
SHOOTING CREEK
"Taking place immediately following the Civil War, this
homage to Sir David Lean, is a lush wide-screen tale about a Reb soldier who sets out to
bring a Confederate flag to a friend's funeral. The story recalls the writings of Stephen
Crane & Ambrose Bierce."

"SHOOTING CREEK, written and directed by JTS Moore,
is a Civil War piece with production values -- wide-screen forest vistas, wonderful period
music by Christopher Anderson -- that effectively compete with THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS
